How do real estate commissions work?

Traditionally, the home seller pays for both the buyer’s agent and the seller’s agent in the homes sale, adding up to 6% in commision that comes out of the seller’s pocket. Put another way, a seller selling a $500,000 home can pay $30,000 in real estate commissions!

How much do I pay in real estate commissions if I use Homezen?

If you use Homezen you pay 0% in seller’s commission, only a lower flat fee.

That means you save you at least 3% or $15,000 on a $500,000 home. You then get the choice of whether you pay a buyer’s agent commission. If their buyer doesn't have an agent, you save the full 6% (in this case $30,000). If the buyer has a real estate agent, you decide how much you are willing to pay their agent. We recommend that sellers pay at least a 2% buyer's agent commission because otherwise many buyer’s agents won’t show your home to their buyers. But it’s your choice, and that’s the way it should be.

How hard is it to sell my home without a real estate agent?

It’s not hard! Roughly 500,000 people in the United States sell their homes without an agent each year. That adds up to over 3 Billion in savings! And Homezen makes it even easier because our experts have your back. You can do it. We can help.

How long will it take to sell my home?

It can take anywhere from a few days to a few weeks to sell your home depending on city and neighborhood you live in. As a rule of thumb, if you price it attractively, it will probably sell faster than if it's the most expensive home for sale in your neighborhood. Have questions? Give us a call or email us at
